Our external activity, which includes resources, outreach and support, education, team building and coaching, policy development, and more reflects our dedication to anti-racism efforts. That journey has included prioritizing the internal effort to confront our own latent biases and aggressively educate ourselves on what anti-racism needs of us as individuals and as a University. Duke is devoted to equality as a core value, and it is this commitment that has kept us on the path to being an anti-racist institution. Despite advancements in civil rights, public policies and institutions frequently mirror or replicate history, contributing in large and little ways to the perpetuation of a system that favors some while disadvantaging others. The Office for Institutional Equity acknowledges the long and tragic history of racism and prejudice at Duke and throughout the nation. "Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly."
